Step-by-step guide to registering for online results
Follow the step-by-step guide below to register for ResultsPlus Direct, the online student results service. Underneath the guide you'll find a list of common questions with answers that should help you out if you have any problems.
Step 1: Select the correct Examination from the drop down list. If you're doing A or AS levels you'll need to select GCE June 2008. If you're doing GCSE or iGCSE, you'll need to select GCSE June 2008. If you're doing both, you should have one PIN for GCE, one for GCSE. If you're not sure, check with your school or college.
Step 2: Key in your centre number, candidate number and registration PIN ; all of this information will have been provided on your secure PIN slip (the centre and candidate number are on the front next to your name; the PIN is inside the slip near the website address). You will also need to key in your date of birth. If you have lost your PIN slip, you'll need to contact your school or college to ask for another copy.
Step 3: Key in your email address. We'll send your registration confirmation to this email address, so make sure that only you or your family can access it. We ask you to key your email address in again in the "Confirm Email" box to make sure that it's correct.
Step 4: If you have a mobile you can choose to give us this number. It's optional, so you don't need to provide it. We'll only use this to contact you if you tick the box described in Step 6.
Step 5: Key in your address, making sure that you give us your city or town and, if you know it, your postcode. We might use this to send you feedback after the results day.
Step 6: Read the Terms and Conditions carefully to make sure you understand them. If you're not sure, ask your parent or guardian to check. Once you're sure you understand them, click in the box below the window that says I have read and accept the terms and conditions of this service. If you don't tick this box to confirm you've understood, you won't be able to register.
Step 7: If you're happy for us to contact you by email or by text, click in the box that says I would like Edexcel to send me information by email or SMS in future.
Step 8: Click on Submit. Your name will appear on the screen along with confirmation of all the details that you've supplied.
Step 9: If all the information is correct, click Confirm. A confirmation message will appear on the screen so you can make sure that everything has worked properly. You will get an email confirming this to the email address you have given us.
Your questions answered
Below you'll find some questions you might have and our answers to help you out.
Q. I've entered all my details and clicked Register and a red warning has appeared that says "Attempt to register failed. Please enter the correct details and try again". What do I do?
A. You've made a mistake entering either your centre number, candidate number, date of birth or PIN number. Check the details carefully against your PIN slip to make sure they're correct. If you can't find your PIN slip, you'll need to ask your school for a copy.
Q. I've entered all my details and clicked Register and a red warning has appeared that says "Email does not match". What do I do?
A. Make sure that the email address you've typed in is the same in both the Email and Confirm Email fields. They must match exactly so that we know we have your correct details.
Q. Why do I have to enter details in the Address Line 1 field, but not the Address Line 2 or Address Line 3 fields?
A. Some people will have an address that only needs one line and then a town/city and a postcode – e.g. 10 High Street, Coventry. If you have more than one line, please use lines 2 and 3.
Q. What should I do if I don't understand the Terms and Conditions?
A. It's important that you understand them, so if you're not sure, ask your parent or guardian to have a look and explain them to you.
Q. My name is spelt wrong on the final confirm screen. How do I change it?
A. The spelling of your name has been provided by your school or college. If it's wrong, you need to speak to them so that they can tell us it needs changing.
Q. What does SMS mean?
A. 'SMS' means information sent by text message.
Q. I've have registered successfully and have received a welcome email. What do I do now?
A. Thanks for registering. We have your email details and will mail you again in July to confirm your ResultsPlus Direct username and password and where you go to login. For now, you don't have to do anything else.
Q. Will my Online results password be the same as my Registration PIN number?
A. No, your password will be different, although it will be six characters long and may contain letters and numbers. When you get your password, you'll also receive instructions on how to change it to something easier to remember.
Q. I have other questions about my examinations. Is there anywhere I can find out more?
A. Yes, you can go to www.examzone.co.uk, Edexcel's site specifically for students taking its examinations. You'll find information about online results there as well as lots of other handy stuff like tips on revision. You can also call us on 0845 618 0440.
